Midnight Margaritas
A little kitchen alchemy for our next Practical Magic night.
We’re making room on the kitchen counter for the blender. There are limes to squeeze, glasses to salt and a very good reason to put some music on and dance.
What We're Pouring
Melissa at A Grateful Meal gives midnight margaritas a coconut-and-lime twist, blending coconut tequila, triple sec, fresh lime and ice. The finishing touch is chilled butterfly pea flower tea, which changes colour with a squeeze of lime. A black salted rim adds drama. We’re bringing out the good glasses usually reserved for company, even if the company is just us.
An alcohol-free glass
For a sparkling citrus version, we’ve bookmarked Isabel Orozco-Moore’s margarita mocktail at Isabel Eats. Fresh lime, lemon and orange meet a little agave and sparkling water.
Give it a salted rim, a wedge of lime and an equally lovely glass.
Before we press play
Brew and chill the tea ahead if we’re making Melissa’s version. For Isabel’s, squeeze the citrus in advance and save the sparkling water for serving.
Put a small bowl of salty snacks within reach. Once the blender stops, we’re taking our seats.
